What do you think about it? What is the teacher trying to say? In your own words explain what "the main event" is.

I love this post, i love hearing what teachers think about school and hearing their perspective on what they think school is. I have had some problems in my life and i had always kept them close to me, but after reading this i know i can lean on other people when i need to.

I think what the teacher is trying to say is that even though school may get difficult, socially, our teachers are here for us. I think that the main event is the social factor, yes there is academic work to complete and schedules to keep to, but the main event of school is the social stress and how to overcome it.

3 day weekend... how was it? Give me a good story or something funny that happened this weekend. Go

During the weekend, Sunday, i went to an FCKC game with my friend and her family which is the equivalent to Sporting Kansas City for women. We lost, but going to Sporting Park was fun.

My mom and my brother, Alec, were away in St. Louis for a soccer tournament so my dad and my other brother, Sean, stayed home and we didn't eat one healthy meal during the whole weekend. My dad isn't the best at cooking so we went out to dinner almost every night.

Do you agree or disagree with this statement. Elaborate on why you agree of disagree.

If images are on the internet they should be "free game".

No, i don't agree with this statement. Mostly because if someone were to take a picture themselves, i.e. a landscape photo or a portrait, then the photographer should have the rights to the photo. The same goes for digital images, like this:

Now, i do think that there can be exceptions, like if the picture were to be used for educational use then the student/teacher can use it all they want. But if someone were to sell the picture, and i was the photographer, then i'd want the proceeds.

Reflect on your resume website

     I think i did very well, compared to the other blogs i saw i think mine was one of the more put together. I think i had a more clean look and overall better website. I think my color scheme was a more cohesive choice than most others and i think it was a more calmer choice.

     I wish i would have remembered to put buttons on my site that maybe liked up to a picture or maybe my blog, and overall had more pictures of my family and myself. 

     I think i would have changed my overall look of the site because my neighbor and i have almost the same color scheme and theme. I think i would've changed the layout,  and maybe add a column or something interesting like that.

What's the coolest thing you've learned in Web Design so far? Why is it so cool and how can it help you in the future?

 The coolest thing I've learned about web design is how much effort it takes to put a picture in the right spot, and how to make a website look like a website, if that makes sense. I think it's cool because i see on television website building infomercials, and now that i know how to build one from scratch i just feel so "techy".

Define 'User Experience'. What does it mean and how does it relate to web design? Explain yourself.

Before i looked it up: I think "User Experience" means what the computer user feels/experiences during their time on a website. 

After i looked it up: "User Experience (UX) involves a person's behaviors, attitudes, and emotions about using a particular product, system or service." According to Wikipedia this is what User Experience means.

 

I think it relates to web design in the way of how we create our websites and how we give the web site  tone, which then in turn, gives the user a specific experience.

What is a resume website? What do people put on resume websites. Spend about 5-10 minutes looking up resume websites and what they are used for. Explain what you find. Include an image of a resume website if possible.

A resume website is a website that is, basically, a virtual resume-it tells about that person and what they're good at. People put their strengths in the field that they work in, example, a web designer would put whether they're good at coding or animating or designing.

I found out that most people will put their strengths and achievements at the beginning of their website and slightly drop in their weaknesses throughout the page.

What are you doing for Spring Break?

I am taking care of my mom this spring break. She just got shoulder surgery and she's going to need help opening jars and driving and what not, because she's getting surgery on her right arm and she's right handed. So that's all i'l be doing.

I look up to my sister in my life. I look up to her because she worked for everything she has today, i.e her education her job. She's a quiet, smart, well-rounded and compassionate person to be around and i admire her work-ethic and how she handles people she doesn't like.

Tell me about your weekend.

This weekend i participated in relay for life at JCCC, and it was a lot of fun. I did not stay up the whole night however, i ended up falling asleep in a folding chair then waking up and moving to the floor for yet another nap. So that was the bulk of my weekend, but on saturday i had to catch up on my sleep. So that's it!

If you were the Principal for a week at BVHS, what would that look like? What changes would you make? Why?

If i were the principal for a day i would tell all the students to take a nap every 20 minutes to make sure that everyone is ready and refreshed for classes. I would make this change because i always feel like i need a nap every 20 minutes, so i think it's the best fix.

Okay, well nothing happened on Saturday, but on Sunday i had two futsal games in a row. Since our goalie is hurt everyone on the team has to play goalie, and i skinned both my knees! Oddly enough, i skinned them in the same place!

The perfect curriculum would be difficult but the teachers would be good at explaining and breaking subjects down to their most basic components. I think all the course titles would be the same as they are now. I would like to study psychology, the class would be fast-paced but interesting. These classes would be different in the sense that the classes would be faster-paced and more in depth.

Color can convey a lot of emotion when it comes to designing anything from a product to a website to an advertisement to a logo and so much more. What do you think the importance of colors on a website are? What is a color scheme and why is it important to have when designing? Explain any thoughts you might have around color in design.

i think colors on a website will decide what the tone of the website is, for example if a website is all black the viewer might think that the contents of the website will be more dark and scary as oppose to a light pink website.

Think about the quote above. What does this mean to you? How could this apply to your life? How could this apply to your school work (especially Web Design!)? I would love to give you less work in class if it meant you were going to focus harder on the work. Do you think you would get more out of it? Would that work for you? Why or why not?

I think this quote means do less things in your life, but do those things with more "focus" or attention. I think this could apply to my life by, me doing more things that matter to me and to stop doing things that i do't really care for. I think by paying closer attention to what i'm doing and making sure that my work is quality work. I think i would get more out of it because i wouldn't just be focusing on getting it done.

I think the coolest thing I've learned this year in this class was how to program an entire web site to my liking. I want to learn more CSS, that way i can make my web sites look more professional.

During the Sweetheart weekend i went on various social media sites and looked at other people in their dresses and suits and what not. Then on Sunday i went to McDonald's with my brother and lazed around when we got back. Later that night i watched the Super Bowl and cheered on the Seahawks, even though they lost.

10 years from now i will be living in either New York or California with a successful job in the field of Pscychology. I will have my own apartment, not too fancy, but nice enough to have people over and not feel embarrassed. I'll have my own dog, a great dane, and he/she will be named either GiGi or Calvin. My fridge will be stuffed with a ton of healthy food and every morning i'll make a fresh smoothie before i head off to work, and every night i'll make my own fresh dinner for one.

Over the weekend my team and i participated in a regional futsal tournament, and we got second place! during the tournament i caught a cold and was sick for the whole weekend. Fortunately, my coach only played me in short burst's that way i could catch my breath every now and then.

Well these kids now a days are staying inside all the time on their shiny new electric devices and not outside skinning their knees like they should be. These kids are also running around in khakis and polo's rather than their four-year-old jeans that have patches left right and center. Kids now a days act like their twenty-two.

What do you find the most confusing and frustrating part of web design and HTML code so far? What would make it easier? What don't you understand? What do you understand? Explain yourself.

I find that the CSS portion of web design is the most difficult. I think a little more explanation would make it a bit easier to understand. I don't understand why we have to code things in the style sheet on codecademy. I understand how to code things in HTML format, everything's very black and white and spelled out for us and i think that's why i understand it.

I'm a freshman and i love it here. I'm involved in the girls soccer team, but the season hasn't started yet, so we're just doing workouts before and after school. I graduate in 2018. My favorite class so far is English because i love to read and write. I'm looking forward to may and celebrating my brother finishing high school.

What are your thoughts on this class so far? Easy? Hard? Informative? Frustrating? What have you learned so far? What do you want to learn? Explain yourself.

So far I've learned how to code in an image ;with and without a link to it, and how to code in words i.e paragraphs, headers and titles. I've also learned how to create a blog, run it and design it the way i want it to look. Lastly, I've learned how to create bookmarks. So far I've found this class informative and just challenging enough that it's fun. I like coding in pictures and memorizing all the certain types of codes that are necessary to create a website

I like how John Tapene has said this, i like that it's short and straight to the point. I feel like it's directed towards me and my peers and that i should start doing more things for other people when i get bored. I agree with what John Tapene is saying, i believe that youth should also try to better the world instead of just live in it.
